Breast Surgery

Breast surgery covers a range of procedures performed for different reasons — from treating breast cancer to reconstructing the breast after surgery, to cosmetic changes a person chooses for themselves.

What to Expect

Before surgery: You’ll meet with your surgeon to discuss your health history, goals, and the best procedure for your situation. Imaging tests (like a mammogram or MRI) may be needed beforehand.

During surgery: Most breast surgeries are done under general anesthesia and can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours, depending on complexity.

Recovery: Healing time varies — some procedures need just a few days of rest, while others (like reconstruction) may take several weeks. Your care team will guide you on wound care, activity limits, and follow-up visits.

Whatever the reason, the goal is always the same: to help you feel healthy, comfortable, and confident in your body.
