About this procedure

Skin boosters (like Rejuran, Profhilo, or hyaluronic acid-based injectables) are different from fillers — instead of adding volume/shape, they focus on improving the quality and health of the skin itself by hydrating it deeply and stimulating collagen from within.

What it is

Skin boosters are micro-injections of hyaluronic acid (or similar hydrating/collagen-stimulating substances) delivered into the superficial layers of the skin — not to add volume or change shape like fillers, but to improve the skin’s hydration, texture, and elasticity from within.

How the procedure works

Step-by-step procedure

  1. 1

Consultation & skin assessment — The practitioner examines your skin condition (hydration level, fine lines, texture, elasticity) and discusses your goals to choose the right product and treatment plan.

  2. 2

Cleansing — The treatment area (commonly face, neck, or hands) is thoroughly cleansed to reduce infection risk.

  3. 3

Numbing (optional) — A topical numbing cream may be applied for 15–20 minutes beforehand, since multiple small injections can cause mild discomfort.

  4. 4

Injection technique — Using a very fine needle or micro-cannula, the practitioner makes a series of small, shallow injections across the treatment area:

    • Injections are placed in a grid-like pattern just under the skin surface (dermis)
    • The product disperses evenly under the skin rather than sitting as a single bolus (unlike fillers)
    • Sometimes a micro-droplet technique is used — many tiny deposits rather than a few larger ones, for even hydration
  5. 5

Massage — After injections, the area is gently massaged to help distribute the product evenly under the skin.

  6. 6

Aftercare instructions given — Cooling gel or ice may be applied to reduce swelling; you’ll get instructions on what to avoid for the next day or two.

What happens afterward

  • Immediately: small bumps where injected (these settle within hours), mild redness

  • First 1–2 days: possible minor bruising or swelling at injection sites

  • 1–2 weeks: skin starts to look more hydrated and smooth as the product integrates

  • Over following weeks/months: collagen-stimulating boosters (like Rejuran or Profhilo) continue working, gradually improving texture and elasticity

Typical treatment plan

  • Often done as a course of 2–3 sessions, spaced about 2–4 weeks apart

  • Results from a course can last several months to about a year, depending on the product

  • Many people repeat treatments every 6–12 months to maintain results

Benefits

Skin Boosters — Benefits

Deep hydration — delivers moisture directly into the skin layers, improving plumpness from within

Improved skin texture — smoother, softer skin over time

Reduced fine lines — especially fine, crepey lines (not deep wrinkles, which need fillers/Botox instead)

Boosted collagen production — many boosters stimulate your skin’s own collagen and elastin over weeks to months

Enhanced radiance/glow — skin often looks brighter and more "alive"
